Emergency Number: Dial 9-1-1 or 496-3600
Safety and 911 Dialing Tips:When you dial 9-1-1, your call will be answered by an operator at the E-911 facility in Williston, Vermont where your phone number and street address will appear on their computer display. That address will be used by emergency responders to find your house. In an emergency, minutes could save a life. Please post your street address so that it can easily be read, even on a moonless night with four to five foot snowbanks along the road. Here are some tips to help us find you in an emergency:
- Put your street number on the front of the structure at the main entrance. If the structure is set back from the main road, use your mail box or a solid post in the ground (not at a location that will be damaged by the snow plow) at the end of the driveway. If the drive serves more that one house, each structure must have it's number displayed.
- Use reflective numbers that are 4 inches high (recommended) and placed in a location (either horizontally or vertically) that can be seen when approaching from either direction.
- Turn on your outside lights.
- Have someone meet the emergency vehicle or have a car visible with flashers on.
